Hola from Barcelona!
There's something about this beautifully dynamic and open Mediterranean city that has me feeling all sorts of wonderful and so I thought I'd keep the positivity on flowing your way my loves. You're welcome.
Last week I discussed how coming away from social media for a time can improve your mental health and yet it isn't all doom and gloom.
Because behind the masquerade of bullshit perfect selfies and over sharers, there's a movement made up of refreshingly raw and honest, relatable individuals doing their best to campaign for positive mental health.
And me like!
These are the champions who leave me feeling more uplifted and inspired after stalking their feed instead of guilty for having those two bread rolls before dinner last night.
So, if like me, you have the occasional urge to scroll through the gram, be sure to split your time between watching those goat yoga videos and inhaling some of the awesome content being shared by these mental health superheroes.
They will empower you I promise.
Meet Kay Ska, the founder of MH Stories and all round cutey. I came across her blog thanks to Instagram and was blown away by her positive attitude as a girl in her early 20's. Pretty sure all I cared about was boys back then... Her passion for mental health awareness is apparent in every post, covering everything from eating disorders to depression and she was even listed as one of the kindest people on Instagram by Glamour Magazine.
Meet Jess, author and creator of Planking For Pizza. First things first, potentially the coolest name on the planet am I right?! Jess is all about the body love and a girl after my own heart when it comes to shouting about the link between both physical and mental health. If self confidence is your goal, Jess is your gal.
OK so maaaaaybe I'm a little bit biased because the founder and creator of Acron Threads just happens to be a dear friend of mine, however friendship aside, this clothing brand is doing things a little bit differently. Nat doesn't just want you to look good at the gym, she wants you to improve your mental health and mindset because in her own words, #happinesssuitsyou She's run various awareness campaigns and oh, she volunteers her time to mentor young students too. Just saying.
Kelly Brogan is my go to guru when I want the truth about the links between the body and mental health or am in the mood to geek out over the science stuff. As a board-certified psychiatrist, she knows better than most that conventional medicine really only offers one single solution to every symptom: a prescription. And so she outlines the other ways to reclaim your health, often sharing inspiring transformational videos from her clients that literally blow you away. A bold character who isn't afraid to be heard.
Who do you spend time stalking to improve your mental health?
